New steel event launching: Electric Steel 2011

11 August 2011

Inaugural conference will be held November 3-4 in Pittsburgh, PA

PORTLAND, Maine, August 11, 2011 IntertechPira is pleased to announce the 1st installment of Electric Steel, taking place November 3-4, 2011 in Pittsburgh, PA. The purpose of this inaugural event is to bring together technology developers, raw material providers and steel manufacturers to debate and discuss the issues affecting electric steel making, and to also identify market opportunities and discover how to further develop this technology.

"Recent developments with rising raw material costs and abundant low-cost natural gas are causing some North American steel manufacturers to seek more efficient and cost effective steel making technologies, one of which is the electric arc furnace (EAF)," said Christopher Smith, senior conference producer for IntertechPira. "Electric Steel 2011 will serve as a gathering point for steel industry professionals to examine the future of this technology, while networking with the key players in the industry. We decided to organize this conference directly following the 15th Met Coke World Summit to maximize the learning and networking opportunities for the steel, coke and coal sectors."

Through approximately 18 expert presentations assessing technical developments and application related advances, Electric Steel 2011 will cover the market outlook for electric steel making; raw materials; natural gas & DRI; environmental trends; furnace technologies and recent developments; efficiency improvements and furnace optimization and sampling and analysis techniques. Throughout the conference, there will be a number of hosted luncheons, breaks and receptions, which will be held in and around the exhibit area located outside the main conference room. Sponsorship and exhibition opportunities are available; contact Brian Santos at +1 207 781 9618.
