Viktor Stískala is a Dipl. Engineer in cokemaking and ironmaking with 25 years’ experience in coal research and cokemaking process. Before joining ThyssenKrupp in 2012 on position of Senior manager he worked as R&D Coal and Coke Cluster leader and Program coordinator in Arcelor Mittal and was a manager of ArcelorMittal Corporate Coke Lab in Ostrava, Czech Republic. Over his career in the Czech Republic he served in two election periods as President of the Czech Cokemaking Society and was also national representative in European Coke Committee.

Moffatt & Nichol

As Moffatt & Nichol’s Chief Economist, Dr. Walter Kemmsies directs and oversees the firm’s work related to market studies, financial analyses, global trade and economic trend forecasts. He has led projects ranging from strategic development plans for ports through M&A transactions of port-related entities to terminal-operator expansion decisions. Dr. Kemmsies is also an advisor to executives at various port authorities and major transportation and manufacturing companies. Dr. Kemmsies is a registered financial analyst with a strong background in industry analysis. He has presented his research at major industry conferences and international economic forums. His research has been published by investment banks, business periodicals, academic journals and various publications. He contributes a monthly column in American Shipper, economic outlook reports for Rosenblatt Securities, and contributes to the Federal Reserve’s Survey of Professional Forecasters. He is a member of the National Association of Business Economists, the Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals, and the advisory board of the Center for Advanced Infrastructure and Transportation at Rutgers University. Essar Steel Algoma

Fred Post has been working in the environmental profession in the steel industry for the last decade and is currently the Manager of Environment Control Services at Essar Steel Algoma in Ontario, Canada. He oversees all environment matters for the integrated steel making processes including coke, iron and steel making, rolling and finishing operations, material storage and processing, multiple landfills and abandoned mine sites as well as a cogeneration facility. Mr. Post holds a BSc in Environmental Science and an MSc in Environmental Management for Business.

Jack Porco has served as President and Chief Commercial Officer of Xcoal Energy & Resources since September of 2009. Prior to joining Xcoal, Jack was with Alpha Natural Resources from September 2006, where he held the position of Executive Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer of Alpha Natural Resources and President of Alpha Coal Sales Co., LLC. Jack began his career in the coal industry with CONSOL Energy in 1974, holding a number of financial and marketing positions before joining AMCI as Vice President in 1996. Jack received his undergraduate and graduate degrees from Robert Morris University and a Masters in International Business from Point Park University.

U.S. Chamber of Commerce Institute for 21st Century Energy

Dan Byers is senior director for policy at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce’s Institute for 21st Century Energy (Energy Institute). Byers leads the Institute’s efforts to promote and maintain coal’s vital role in America’s energy system. Byers brings to the Energy Institute expertise on the intersection of energy-related science, technology, and public policy. He directs the Chamber in assessing the impact of existing and emerging federal laws and regulations on the U.S. energy industry—specifically on coal-fired energy—and is responsible for building and supporting partnerships that highlight the important role of coal in our nation’s energy mix. Byers leads the Partnership for a Better Energy Future, a coalition of businesses, associations, and stakeholder groups launched by the Energy Institute and the National Association of Manufacturers. The Partnership supports responsible energy regulation and fosters constructive conversations about the potential impact of the administration’s proposed greenhouse gas regulations.

John Shimkus

John M. Shimkus has served in the Army, as a high school teacher, a county treasurer, and now as a Member of the United States House of Representatives for the 15th District of Illinois. Among his duties in Congress, John is a senior member of the House Energy and Commerce Committee and chairman of its Subcommittee on Environment and the Economy. He also serves on the Energy and Power;Health; and Communications and Technology Subcommittees. John is a U.S. delegate to the NATO Parliamentary Assembly. His Lithuanian heritage and military service in West Germany gives him a unique perspective on Eastern European issues and the plight of people seeking democracy and freedom.
